DUSHANBE, May 17, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met with a group of Kuwaiti entrepreneurs in Kuwait City on May 16, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

Emomali Rahmon, in particular, noted that the meeting was an important step towards further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Kuwait.

He reportedly briefed Kuwaiti entrepreneurs on the current economic situation in Tajikistan and its opportunities.

Rahmon noted that Tajikistan, within the frameworks of its long-term development program, has developed large economic development programs that require additional foreign investments.

Tajik president outlined sectors like hydropower, light industry, food supplies, tourism, agriculture, cotton and primary aluminum processing, fresh water supplies, as well as construction of transportation and tourism infrastructure, as areas which could drive the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Kuwait.  He especially invited Kuwait investments in tourism and relevant industries.
