DUSHANBE, February 29, Asia-Plus  — Prospects of further expansion of economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran were focus of a meeting of Sharif Said, the head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), with Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan Ali-Asghar Sherdoust that was held in Dushanbe on Febraury 27.  

The CCI press service said that during the meeting, Sharif Said had noted that Tajikistan seeks further expansion of cooperation with Iran in the sectors like industry, agriculture and tourism.  He, in particular, noted that Tajikistan is interested in launching joint ventures and attracting Iranian investments.  Said also pointed to the necessity of expanding cooperation between the private sectors of the countries.       

The CCI head also invited Iranian entrepreneurs to participate more actively in organization of international exhibitions and fairs in Tajikistan.   

For his part, Mr. Sherdoust underlined the importance of development of friendly relationships between Iran and Tajikistan and noted that his country was interested in launching joint ventures on production of confectionery. 

Both sides vowed to promote development of trade between the two countries and expressed wish to see more high-quality Iranian goods on Tajikistan’s markets and more innovation achievements and advanced technologies at exhibitions organized by Iran in Tajikistan, the press service said.
