DUSHANBE, June 2, 2016, Asia-Plus – Russia’s Supreme Court is currently considering the issue of shutting down a Moscow-based Tajik public association, Tajik Migrant Workers, following request by the Russian Ministry of Justice.

A statement by Karomat Sahripov, the head of the Tajik migrant support group, posted on the Tajik Migrant Workers’ website, says that the Russian Supreme Court began considering the issue of shutting down Tajik Migrant Workers on June 2.

Sharipov, in particular, says in his statement that he is ready to meet with representatives of media outlets to produce proofs that the legal proceedings over the closure of the Tajik migrant support group has been initiated by the Russian Ministry of Justice by order of certain forces and he is ready to name those who ordered that legal proceedings.

The Tajik Migrant Workers public association was established in Moscow on November 10, 2007.  The public association has its official newspaper Ovozi Tojikistoniho (The Voice of Tajikistanis) and website tajmigrant.com. 

The Moscow-based Tajik migrant support group has reportedly assisted Tajik labor migrants with everything from finding a job to battling fabricated criminal cases.
