DUSHANBE, February 27, Asia-Plus — In accordance with Tajikistan’s national employment program designed for 2008-2009, more than 185,000 new jobs are expected to be created in the country by the end of 2009, Amriddin Shamsiddinov, the head of the labor market monitoring and assessment department within the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (MoLSP), said.
According to him, in the coming two years, the state-run enterprises will create 40,500 new jobs, enterprises of the commercial sector – 15,600 jobs, enterprises of the private sector – 82,000 jobs, and enterprises with mixed forms of ownership – 47,800 jobs.
New jobs will be created in different sectors, including construction, transport and communications, agriculture, as well as education, culture and public health.
“Since 1998, 821,500 new jobs have been created in Tajikistan,” Shamsiddinov said. However, he found it difficult to tell Asia-Plus the exact number of people that were placed in those jobs.
He added that employment programs were worked out for two years. Thus, under the 2006-2007 employment program 165,000 jobs were created in the country. However, only 50,000 people were placed in jobs during that period.
