Media registration now open for ADB’s 41st annual meeting in Madrid

DUSHANBE, February 7, Asia-Plus  – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has opened media registration for its 41st Annual Meeting to be held on May 3-6 2008 at the Institución Ferial de Madrid (IFEMA) in Madrid, Spain, Tatiana Yevstifeyeva, senior administrative assistant/external relations coordinator, ADB Resident Mission in Tajikistan, said.   

Participants are requested to register as early as possible and online registration will remain open until 18 April. Members of the media are invited to cover the meeting and participate in all the seminars.

Some 3,000 participants, including government leaders, central bank governors and finance ministers, as well as representatives from the private sector, academia, media, and civil society groups from around the world are expected to gather for the Annual Meeting.

One of the highlights of ADB”s Annual Meeting 2008 will be discussions on ADB”s Long-Term Strategic Framework covering 2008-2020. The meeting will also include a series of seminars on key issues, including climate change, economic integration, and financial market stability.

ADB, based in Manila, is dedicated to reducing poverty in the Asia and Pacific region through pro-poor sustainable economic growth, social development, and good governance. Established in 1966, it is owned by 67 members – 48 from the region. In 2007, it approved $10.1 billion of loans, $673 million of grant projects, and technical assistance amounting to $243 million.
