President Emomali Rahmon, who is also the head of the Government, held a meeting on October 27, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

The current corruption situation in the country was reportedly one of the main issues on the meeting’s agenda.

President’s son, Rustam Emomali, who heads the anticorruption agency, reported on the findings of the sociological surveys on the corruption situation in the country.

According to him, more than 88,000 residents of Tajikistan of different ages and professions have been surveyed.  

The government members pointed to the necessity of strengthening the fight against corruption in the country.

The president’s website has refrained from giving details of the reports on the corruption situation released at the meeting.

The meeting also discussed and endorsed the membership of the board of the interior ministry of the country.  

Besides, the meeting participants discussed the draft national budget for 2017 and the key indicators of the budget for 2018-2019.  

According to the president’s website, Tajikistan’s draft budget for 2017 is expected to stand at 19,568,600,000 somoni, which is 1,718,000,000 somoni more than the country’s budget for this year.  

The expenditure part of the national budget for 2017 is projected to stand at 19,863,000,000 somoni.

Indicators of the national budget for 2017 will reflect the economic and social development of the country.  Social spending will account for more than 40 percent budget allocations (8,286,000,000 somoni).

It was noted that over the first nine months of this year, the country’s budget has received 390 million somoni less than it was originally planned.

The meeting participants endorsed the draft budget for 2017 and it was sent for consideration to the parliament’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon).
