Tajik government intends to reduce poverty rate by 11 percent – from 31 percent in 2015 to 20 percent in 2020.

President Emomali Rahmon held a meeting on November 25 to review the main macroeconomic indicators of development of the country for 2018 and the main parameters for 2019-2020, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

The meeting also discussed a draft program of the medium-term development of the country designed for 2016-2020.

Speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Nematullo Hikmatullozoda, in particular, noted that the medium-term development program provided for reducing the poverty rate in the country from 31 percent in 2015 to 20 percent in 2020 and raising an average living standard in the country from 22 percent in 2015 to 30 percent in 2020.

The minister stressed that they had projected all those indicators taking into account influence of external factors and joint efforts of all government bodies would be required for implementation of them. 

Besides, the meeting heard a report of the head of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption, Rustam Emomali, on draft amendments proposed to the country’s laws on the anticorruption agency, anti-corruption examination of regulatory acts and their drafts, public service, and combating corruption as well as penal and administrative codes of the country.

All those draft laws were reportedly approved and sent for consideration to the lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of the parliament.

The meeting also approved new compositions of boards of the Ministry of Justice and Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank).
