Issues related to easing visa regime between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are expected to be discussed at a session of Tajikistan-Uzbekistan joint commission for trade and economic cooperation that will take place here in late December, a source in the Tajik government told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, the sides will sign an agreement on easing the visa regime.
The source further added that it could not be ruled out that passengers of the Dushanbe-Tashkent-Dushanbe flights would be able to obtain visas on arrival at airports.
Uzbekistan imposed visa regime for Tajik nationals in September 2000.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan plans to hold a major trade fair of its exports, including auto goods and food products, in Dushanbe next month. Once that event wraps up, business representatives from both countries are expected to hold their first ever bilateral business forum.
As it had been reported earlier, a senior Uzbek delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Azimov, travels to Dushanbe for talks on trade and economic cooperation next week.
