DUSHANBE, January 21, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan continues following its policy of establishment and strengthening of cooperation with foreign countries and international organizations, Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi announced at a news conference in Dushanbe  on January 21.

 According to him, the president paid 10 official visits and four working visits to other countries last year.  For their part, four presidents of other countries paid official and working visit to Tajikistan.

“Last year, Tajikistan signed 96 agreements with foreign countries, with 90 percent of them having socioeconomic character,” the minister said, adding that there are some problems with implementation of the agreements.

“We plan to send governmental commissions to Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Iran in February to discuss a progress of implementation of agreements signed with these countries,” said Zarifi, “Negotiations in Tehran are supposed to focus on construction of the Sangtuda-2 hydropower plant, construction of which is funded by the Iranian side.”
