First U.S. Trade Delegation arrives in Tajikistan on July 12

Date:

The first U.S. Trade Delegation is arriving in Dushanbe tomorrow.

This trade delegation is initiated by the U.S. private sector and organized by the U.S.-Tajikistan Business Council (USTJBC).

USTJBC Chairman, Mr. Philip de Leon, says the delegation is a reflection of their joint efforts with the Government of Tajikistan to raise bilateral trade and investment relations to new levels of business commitment.

Today's participants in the Trade Delegation include three founding members – AGCO Corporation, Baker & McKenzie, and General Electric – as well as a new member – the American Councils of International Education – and participating-companies APR Energy, The Coca-Cola Company, Mobilized Construction, Visa, and White 64.

All these companies reportedly represent top expertise in every sector of industries that the American and Tajik people would like to grow, develop, and fortify: agriculture, energy, hydropower, tourism, legal services, education, consumer goods, infrastructure development, and startups.

The delegation members are scheduled to visit the “Danghara” Free Economic Zone (FEZ) and hold talks with representatives of Tajikistan’s public and private sectors.

Launched on October 10, 2016, the US-Tajikistan Business Council (USTJBC) is a private and independent trade association aimed at advancing commercial and investment ties between the United States of America and the Republic of Tajikistan.  The council is a membership organization representing US companies that are active and/or are interested in doing business in the Republic of Tajikistan. The council’s founding members are AGCO, Baker & McKenzie and General Electric. American Councils for International Education joined the council in spring 2017.

The main mission of the USTJBC is to advance its members’ commercial activities in Tajikistan and to encourage the American public and key decision-makers to develop stronger business relations with the people of Tajikistan.  Serving as a clearinghouse and driven by mutually beneficial interests, the USTJBC will provide practical views and share solutions with the governments and the private sectors of the United States and the Republic of Tajikistan on what can be done to further strengthen trade.  These regular meetings with senior officials will be used as an advocacy tool to promote member-companies’ current and future business activities.

The council regularly meets with US government officials and international financial institutions to seek their support for its members’ ongoing and future activities.  In addition, the council holds regular meetings with the Embassy of Tajikistan in Washington DC to discuss the pace of the trade dialogue with the United States.
