The total volume of foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan for seven months of this year amounted to just over 2 billion dollars. This is by 9.2% ($ 205 million) less than the same period in 2016, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The export of goods in January-July of this year amounted 527 million dollars which is 3.9% ($ 20 million) more than in the same period last year.. 

Imports of products amounted to about $ 1.5 billion. This is by 13.1 percent ($ 224 million) less than the volume of January-July 2016. In particular, a significant reduction in the import of cars and equipment, non-precious metals, plant products, chemical products, optical and medical instruments . 

The volume of foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan due to the reduction of imports is declining for the third consecutive year. The average monthly volume of imports fell from $ 358 million in the peak year of 2014 to $ 286 million in 2015.

Last year, on average, Tajikistan imported products аor the amount of 250 million dollars. In the first seven months of this year, this figure fell by another $ 38 million – to $ 212 million.

The main trading partners of Tajikistan since the beginning of this year were Russia and Kazakhstan.

The volume of Tajik-Russian trade turnover in January-July of this year amounted to over $ 508 million, which is 12 percent less than the same period in 2016.

The size of the Tajik-Kazakh trade turnover was more than 460 million dollars. This is almost 30% more than the volume of January-July last year.

Meanwhile, commodity turnover between Tajikistan and China since the beginning of the year fell by 43 percent, having made on results of seven months of this year only about 314 million dollars.
