Rahmon meets Kazak and Uzbek counterparts in Ashgabat to discuss cooperation

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon yesterday met Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in the Turkmen capital, Ashgabat, on the sidelines of an official opening of the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

The heads of state reportedly discussed issues related to bilateral and multilateral cooperation between their countries and expressed readiness for further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between them.

Today morning, Tajik leader left Ashgabat for New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly  

The 72nd Regular Session of the UN General Assembly convened at UN Headquarters on September 12 and the General Debate will open on September 19 with a focus on the theme, “Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet.”  

The event will also mark the debut of the new UN chief, Antonio Guterres, the former Portuguese prime minister who will preside over the Assembly's general debate, which runs through September 25.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon will deliver a statement at the UN General Assembly.

While in New York, Tajik leader is also expected to hold a number of bilateral meetings.
