Ural Federal University named after B.N. Yeltsin has donated 600 fiction books, including collected works by prominent Russian writers Lev Tolstoy, Vladimir Korolenko, Nikolai Leskov and others, to Tajikistan.

The books have been airlifted to Tajikistan by transport plane of the Russian Ministry of Defense, according to Rossotrudnichestvo’s office in Dushanbe.

Rossotrudnichestvo’s office will distribute the books to libraries in all regions of the country.

Recall, Russia has sent 30 teachers to secondary schools in Tajikistan.  Teachers from the Russian regions of Kostroma, Kemerovo, Bashkortostan, Daghestan, and Tatarstan have arrived in Tajikistan to teach subjects such as mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, computer science, Russian, and others at secondary schools where teaching is conducted in Russian.

The government-sponsored Russian World foundation, which promotes the Russian language and culture abroad, noted in August that Russia will also provide Tajikistan with 20 tons of textbooks on various subjects by September 1.

The education sector in Tajikistan has been in decline after collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.

Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin, often shortened to UrFU, is one of the leading educational institutions in the Ural region.  Ural Federal University acts as a research and innovation center of the Ural region, has close cooperation with the Russian Academy of Sciences. Training of students is carried out in three main directions and 67 academic majors.  The links between the university and intermediate and elementary educational institutions are developed.  The University performs consistent work on establishing strategic partnership with employers for the development of the regional economy: employers are involved in the educational environment as direct participants, large-scale target preparation of students and corporate education are carried out on the basis of the client-centered approach, joint business projects in economic and social activity are realized.

Ural University is one of Russia’s best research centers, which provides education in the spheres of natural sciences, engineering, economics, social studies, arts and humanities.  The University includes 18 institutes offering over 120 Bachelor’s degree programs and over 80 Master’s degree programs.  UrFU research facilities include dozens of research centers, innovation infrastructure, the Research Library boasting a collection of over three million books, several museums, and specialized collections. The total number of students at UrFU exceeds 50,000.
