Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) under the President of Tajikistan seized 91.814 kilograms of narcotic drugs last month alone, according to the DCA press center.
A totaled included 1.461 kilograms of heroin, 31.484 kilograms of raw opium, and 58.869 kilograms of hashish.
On May 13, resident of the Darvoz district of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) was detained on suspicion of drug trafficking. 20 packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to raw opium weighing 20.044 kilograms were found in his Mercedes-Benz.
On May 16, Tajik border guards jointly with drug control officers reportedly prevented an attempt by Afghan drug traffickers to illegally cross the border river in GBAO’s Ishkashim district. 10.274 kilograms of hashish and 1.461 kilograms of heroin were found on the spot.
An operation carried out by drug control officers in the Vose district of Khatlon province on May 21 led to the arrest of resident of the Roudaki district (district subordinate to the center). 30.230 kilograms of hashish and 11.440 kilograms of raw opium were found hidden in his Toyota-Camry.
On May 31, resident of the Panj district (Khatlon province) was detained in the Jaihun district (Khatlon province) on suspicion of drug trafficking. 15 packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing 18.365 kilograms were confiscated from him.
