            DUSHANBE, November 27, Asia-Plus  — Cotton farmers in the Sughd province and districts subordinate to the center (RRPs) have practically ended the cotton-harvesting campaign, reaching 72.8% and 73.3% of their 2007 targets respectively.

 Tohir Sodiqov, the head of the industrial and grain crops department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection (MoAEP), said in an interview with Asia-Plus that yesterday, only cotton farmers of the southern Khatlon province worked.  They yielded 365 kilograms of cotton, which is only 0.1 percent of this year’s national target, which has been determined at 550,000 tons of cotton.  

The southern Khatlon province has pledged to produce 330,500 tons of raw cotton this year.  They have gathered 258,326 tons of cotton by November 27, which is 78.2 percent of the target.

Districts subordinate to the center (RRPs) have yielded 35,2339 tons of raw cotton by November 27, which is 73.3 percent of the target.  Their target is 48,200 tons of cotton. 

Cotton growers of the northern Sughd province have yielded 124,638 tons of cotton by to this day, which is 72.8 percent of its target determined at 171,300 tons of cotton. 

According to Sodiqov, the republic has yielded 418,303 tons of cotton by November 27, which comprises 76.1 percent of this year’s target.
