Former head of Bobojon-Ghafourov district, which is one of the largest districts in Sughd province, is wanted by police. He is suspected of a large-scale bribery.
The chief of the anticorruption agency’s office in Sughd, Colonel Karim Ibrohimzoda, told reporters in Khujand, the administrative center of Sughd province, on August 2 that ex-chairman of Bobojon-Ghafourov district, Abdusamad Mannonzoda, in March 2014 took 14,000 U.S. dollars and Toyota Camry costing 26,000 U.S. dollars for allotting a 2.45-hectare land plot to the “Ahmadov A” Limited Liability Company.
“Former head of the scientific and production association named after R. Nabiyev, U.B., acted as mediator in that bargain. He took 100,000 U.S. dollars from Sh.M. for creation of an auxiliary farm at the “Ahmadov A” Company. He handed over 14.000 U.S. dollars and the car to Abdusamad Mannonzoda,” Ibrohimzoda said.
“On March 1, 2017, criminal proceedings were instituted against the head of the scientific and production association under the provisions of Article 247 of Tajikistan’s Pena Code – fraud,” the Sughd chief anticorruption officer added.
According to him, criminal proceedings against Abdusamad Mannonzoda were instituted under the provisions of Article 319 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – large-scale bribery.
