A meeting to review the results of the Decent Work Country Program (DWCP) for 2015-2017 and set priorities of a new DWCP took place in Dushanbe on March 14, according to the UN News Center.

Representatives of the government, labor ministry, employers and trade unions of Tajikistan and the delegation of the International Labor Organization (ILO) discussed the main directions of the new DWCP for 2018-2022

The DWCP for 2018-2022 is reportedly aimed at providing safety and health protection for migrants.

The UN News Center says it is already the fourth DWCP that will be signed by the Government of Tajikistan and the International Labor Organization (ILO).

The first draft document is reportedly expected to be presented in May this year.

Recall, the Tajik tripartite constituents and the ILO signed the DWCP for 2015-2017 in Dushanbe on June 24, 2015.

The DWCP for 2015-2017 was aimed at contributing to sustainable socio-economic development of the country, based on regulation of relations in line with international labor standards, promoting of productive employment, improvement of social protection and further consolidation of social dialogue.

The Program provided for strengthening the role of trade unions and employers’ organizations in policy design and decision-making on labor issues and for enhancing of the institutional capacities of the Tripartite Commission for the Regulation of Social and Labor Relations in Tajikistan. The Program focused on rising awareness among the tripartite constituents on the need to promote registered employment and policies on formalization of the economy.

In Tajikistan, where 70 per cent of the population is under the age of 30, it is essential to enhance entrepreneurship and create more decent and fulfilling jobs for young people.
