DUSHANBE, October 10, Asia-Plus — Germany will remain reliable partner of Tajikistan in future as well and considerable aid being provided by it to Tajikistan will be not only continued but also be increased, German Ambassador to Tajikistan Rainer Muller announced at a reception in Dushanbe yesterday.

The reception was organized on occasion of Germany’s national holiday – the German Unification Day.

Mr. Muller noted that Germany has to date provided approximately 100 million euros for development of Tajikistan and major part of this assistance has been provided in a form of grant.

He reminded that during its European Union presidency in the first half-year of 2007 presidency, Germany initiated adoption of a new concept of the European Union for Central Asia, which was a new turning point in the European policy in Central Asia.  “The strategy will promote further expansion of cooperation between the EU states and the Central Asian countries,” the ambassador said

Some 350 guests, including representatives from political parties, economic and cultural circles of Tajikistan, as well as representatives from diplomatic missions and international organizations, attended the reception.
