Last month, inflation rate in Tajikistan stood at 0.5 percent, which is 0.1 percent fewer than in June last year, according to the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).

Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the first five months of this year has been estimated at 0.4 percent.  This is due to the two-month deflation process that was interrupted in April.

Tajik central bank notes that rising prices for fuel products have had a ripple effect on the June inflation rate.

A sudden spike in prices for fuel products, especially liquefied natural gas, has led to increase in the prices of some other products in the country.

According to the NBT press center, non-foodstuffs rose in cost 1.7 percent in June with the prices increasing most significantly for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) – 33.0 percent. The LNG price hike has reportedly resulted from the decreasing LNG imports into the country.

According to the statistical data from the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan, 27,800 tons of LNG delivered to the country last month, which was 22.1 percent or 7,900 tons fewer than in May.

Prices and rates for services rendered to the population last month reportedly increased by 2.1 percent.

Meanwhile prices for products of food industry last month reportedly decreased by 0.5 percent.

Recall, Tajikistan’s year-end inflation for 2017 has been estimated at 6.7 percent.

Tajik central bank had previously forecast that the year-end inflation for last year would to stand at 7.0 percent.
