This year, Russian has allotted more than 630 seats to Tajik students in Russian higher educational institutions, which is reportedly 12 seats more than last year.
Compared to the previous academic year, the number of seats in Russian universities allotted to Tajik students for 201902020 academic has increased, Mikhail Vozhdayev, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo’s office in Tajikistan, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, the number of seats increased from 618 allotted last year to more than 630 seats allotted this year.
“The majority of 20,000 Tajik students studying in the Russian Federation have been enrolled on a full scholarship and only 10 percent of them have entered Russian education institutions by student quota allotted by Rossotrudnichestvo,” Vozhdayev said, adding that additional seats will be allotted in the summer.
The Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation, commonly known as Rossotrudnichestvo, is an autonomous Russian federal government agency under the jurisdiction of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is a Russian government agency primarily responsible for administering civilian foreign aid. Rossotrudnichestvo operates in Central Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe (but mostly in Commonwealth of Independent States).
The agency was created from its predecessor agency on September 6, 2008, with the aim of maintaining Russia's influence in the Commonwealth of Independent States, and to foster friendly ties for the advancement of Russia's political and economic interests in foreign states.
