Tajikistan’s civil aviation authorities have proposed local air companies to review their tariff policy for international air routes in order not to lose passengers.

“In the last quarter of 2018, we invited representatives of local airlines and carried out additional analysis of air ticket prices,” the Civil Aviation Agency director, Ikrom Subhonzoda, told reporters in Dushanbe on February 11.

According to him, certain changes have been made to the companies’ tariff policy and passenger fares for international air routes have been lowered by 15-20 percent.

“Thus, ticket for the Dushanbe-Moscow route has been lowered from 3,000 somoni to 2,400 somoni,” Subhonzoda said.

Deputy Director-General of Somon Air (Tajikistan’s privately owned air company), Qosim Valiyev, noted that the ticket price depends on when it is bought.

“For example, if you buy ticket for the Dushanbe-Moscow route a month in advance, it will cost even less than 2,000 somoni,” Valiyev noted.

He further added that the cost of air ticket today is determined by market and it is dependent on demand and consumer preferences.
