Tajik Ambassador presents credentials to President Putin

DUSHANBE, July 28, Asia-Plus — On Friday July 27, Tajik Ambassador to Russia Abdulmajid Dostiyev presented credentials to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Muhammad Egamzod, a spokesman for the Tajik Embassy in Moscow, noted that in the course of the talks, President Putin said that Russia attaches a special significance to expansion of its cooperation with Tajikistan, which is a strategic partner of the Russian Federation.  “Russian president noted that large scale energy projects and international cooperation should have an important place in bilateral relations between the Russian Federation and Tajikistan,” Egamzod said. 

Putin noted that Russia is ready for further expansion of its many-sided cooperation with Tajikistan and implementation of ambitious energy projects occupies a special place in Russia-Tajik cooperation, according to Egamzod.  Russian president also pointed to the necessity of further expansion of cooperation between the two countries within CIS, as well authoritative international organizations such as the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the spokesman said.   

For his part, Abdulmajdi Dostiyev noted that Tajikistan and Russia have traditionally friendly relations and ties of confidence based on long-term interests and principles of strategic partnership and they will expand in future as well, promoting settlement of many important issues of bilateral cooperation between them.  “Our nations are interested in this, and we see in this a guarantee of maintaining peace and stability in the Central Asian region,” Tajik ambassador noted.
