43 billion somonis to be attracted for implementation of national development strategy

DUSHANBE, July 27, Asia-Plus — The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) jointly with other ministries and organizations has projected two main programs – the Tajikistan’s National Development Strategy for 2007-2015 and Tajikistan’s Poverty Reduction Strategy for 2007-2009, Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister, Zurbiddin Kenjayev, remarked at a news conference in Dushanbe  yesterday.  

According to him, 43 billion somonis, including 24 billion somonis from the country’s budget, will be attracted in implementation of the national development strategy.  

Kenjayev noted that over the first six months of this year, they have also projected a program of national investments, grants and technical assistance for 2007-2009.  The program includes 79 projects for a total amount of t1.7497 billion US dollars, according to him.   

 The deputy minister noted that  55,400 new jobs have been created in the country in the past six months. 

During the news conference it was noted that more than 1 billion US dollars had been attracted in rehabilitation and development of the energy sector.  Work on construction of the Sangtuda-1 power plant and power transmission lines South-North, Lolazor-Khatlon, Lolazor-Sangtuda, and Kazanguzar-Sangtuda-2 is under way.
