Chiefs of border services of Central Asian nations, Russia and Afghanistan have gathered in Dushanbe to discuss additional measures to counter threats emanating from Afghan territory.
A regional meeting of chiefs of border services of the CIS Central Asian region is being held at Dushanbe Hilton Hotel today, Mohammad Ulughkhojayev, a spokesman for the Main Border Guard Directorate under the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Tajikistan,” told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, the meeting has brought together chiefs of borer services of Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
“The meeting participants are discussing issues related to expansion of cooperation between the border services in addressing new challenges and threats,” said Ulughkhojayev. “Besides, they are discussing the current situation along the CSI nations’ common border with Afghanistan and additional measures to counter threats emanating from Afghan territory.”
