Tajikistan has reportedly halved wheat imports and significantly increased flour and fuel imports.

Over the first two months of this year, Tajikistan has imported more than 88,000 tons of oil products, which was 16.5 percent more than in the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Over the same two month period, Tajikistan has reportedly imported more than 14,600 tons wheat flour (a 25.6 percent increase compared to January-February 2018).

Meanwhile, wheat imports have been more than halved over the report period.  In January-February this year, Tajikistan imported 95,000 tons of wheat, which was 52.1 percent fewer than in the same period last year.

The bulk of Tajikistan’s wheat and flour imports are provided by Kazakhstan, while its fuel imports are provided by Russia.

According to data from the Agency for Statistics, heat flour prices last year rose 12.3 percent compared to the same period last year.

Gasoline prices last month reportedly fell 0.5 percent.
