DUSHANBE, June 7, Asia-Plus — A total amount of regulative capital stocks of Tajik banks has increased by 7 percent over the first four months of the year and amounted, as of May 1, 2007, to 349.8 million somonis (equivalent to $101.7 million), Asia-Plus has learned at the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).

The source at Tajik central bank said Tajik banks’ total regulative capital, which includes authorized capital of bank and its profit, has increased due to increase of profits of the banks.  

 Experts have also noted activity of banks in formation of their issued share capital. 

“A total amount of authorized capital stocks has to date amounted to 207.8 million somonis,” the source said.   

 According to figures provided by Tajik central bank, the regulative capital of OryonBonk has to date amounted to 85.6 million somonis, AgroInvestBonk – 59.1 million somonis, TojikSodirotBonk – 50.4 million somonis, TajPromBank – 31.4 million somonis, AmonatBonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) – 25.4 million somonis, Bank Eskhata – 23.1 million somonis, The First MicroFinance Bank of Tajikistan (FMFB-T) – 20.1 million somonis, SohibkorBonk – 16.7 million somonis, and Tajikistan Development Bank (TDB) – 16.7 million.  The regulative capital of the branch of Iran’s Tejarat Bank in Dushanbe has amounted to 20.9 somonis, the source said.  

At present nine banks operate in Tajikistan: AgroInvestBonk, OryonBonk, SohibkorBonk, Bank Eskhata, AmonatBonk (Tajik savings bank), TojikSodirotBonk, Tajikistan Development Bank (TDB), TajPromBank and The First MicroFinance Bank of Tajikistan.  Additionally, a branch of Iran’s Tejarat Bank, and an office of Kazakhstan’s TuranAlemBank also function in the country.
