DUSHANBE, June 1, Asia-Plus – A Republican Press Center opened in Dushanbe yesterday.  It was established under support of Tajikistan’s MFA and the United Nations Tajikistan Office of Peace-Building (UNTOP).

Nargis Nourova, coordinator of this project, told Asia-Plus that the Center provided with the state-of-the-art office equipment is dedicated “to host news conferences, briefings, roundtable meetings as well as training workshops for young journalists and students from journalism department faculties.”

According to her, young inexperienced aspirants will have an opportunity to obtain professional skills in the field of information technologies, participate in workshops, training courses, master classes, and other events of informational and methodological nature.

Besides, the Center will make available legal advice to employees of media active in Tajikistan.  “The Center also has resource unit that will provide journalists with free access to Internet,” said Nourova, “Another advantage of the Center is the fact that it will have its own mini printing facility for publishing books, magazines and other print products.”
