US Department of Commerce official to visit Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, May 4, Asia-Plus — Paul Dyck, Deputy Assistant Secretary, U.S. Department of Commerce, is expected to arrive in Tajikistan to attend the Central Asia Transportation Infrastructure Conference that will be held at the Kokhi Vahdat State Complex in Dushanbe on May 7. 

According to the US Embassy in Dushanbe, representatives from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan have confirmed participation at the conference, which will focus on the aviation/airport, road construction, and transportation sectors. 

The objective of the conference is to bring together transportation experts to discuss current transportation issues in the Central Asian region and discuss the potential for future cooperation and growth.

Paul Dyck and Tajik Transport Minister Abdurahim Ashurov will speak at the conference.

A number of participants traveled to the U.S. as participants on the SABIT business training program, which provides a unique opportunity to learn from U.S. business experience.
