Tajik President Emomali Rahmon yesterday extended condolences to Indonesia President Joko Widodo over January 9’s passenger plane crash near the Indonesian capital Jakarta, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

Tajik president, in particular, said in his message of condolences that he was deeply saddened to learn about the loss of many lives in a plane crash in Indonesia.

“We share the grief of friendly and brotherly people of Indonesia,” Emomali Rahmon said in his message of condolences and asked to convey his heartfelt condolences to families and relatives of those who lost their lives in that tragedy.

Media reports says Sriwijaya Air flight SJY 182 had 50 passengers — all Indonesians, including 10 children — and 12 crew members aboard.  The aircraft crashed into the sea on January 9 after taking off from Jakarta.  Confirmation that the plane had crashed came about 20 hours after it went missing following its departure from capital Jakarta,

According to Bloomberg, Indonesian investigators said the crashed Boeing Co. jet broke apart upon impact with water, which could rule out a mid-air breakup.

Debris suspected to be from Flight SJ182 — a Boeing 737-500 model that’s much older than the 737 Max aircraft — has reportedly been found along with emergency signals transmitted by two devices, with the search team already locating both flight recorders.

The Indonesian Navy said it found the debris of aircraft scattered at four sites of Thousand Islands waters.
