A school student saves a girl who jumped into the river in Dushanbe

The injured person was taken to the hospital, and the young man will be awarded.

A school student in Dushanbe saved a girl who attempted to end her life by jumping into a river. The incident occurred on April 19 at around 21:00.

According to the capital’s Police Department, a young resident of the city jumped from a bridge into the Dushanbinka River on Sohili Street. The incident was witnessed by Rahmatullo Mardiktoyev, an 11th-grade student from School No. 40 in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district, who jumped into the water after the girl and managed to pull her out.

The victim was taken to the Istiqlol clinic. She is currently under medical supervision, and law enforcement agencies are conducting an investigation. Preliminary data suggests that the incident was caused by a family conflict.

The capital’s police expressed gratitude to Rahmatullo Mardiktoyev for his demonstrated civic responsibility and for saving the girl’s life. He will be rewarded with valuable gifts, the department noted.
