In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, the Minister of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population, Ms. Shirin Amonzoda, revealed on July 28 that wage debts in Tajikistan have amounted to 57.713 million somonis as of June 1, 2021.
According to her, this amount is a total debt of 75 enterprises to 14,080 people. “As a result of explanatory work carried among the employers, ten enterprises and organizations have fully repaid their wage debts and thirteen others have repaid their wage debts partially,” the minister noted.
Meanwhile, Doustmurod Murodzoda, the head of the State Service for Supervision in the Field of Labor Migration and Employment, says the current large wage debtors are Tajik Air (Tajikistan’s national air carrier) and Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) NBO Roghun.
As of June 1, 2021, Tajik Air has reportedly owed to its employees 5.5 million somonis and OJSC NBO Roghun has owed 3.2 million somonis to its employees.
Besides, the following companies are among the ten largest wage debtors in the country: OJSC Tojiknaqbsoz (tunnel construction) – 15.8 million somonis; OJSC Azot (fertilizer plant) – 5 million somonis; OJSC Tamokhush – 2.4 million somonis; OJSC Adrasman Ore Refinery – 12.7 million somonis; State Unitary Enterprise (SUE) Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO) – 1 million somonis; Binosoz Limited Liability Company (LLC) – 1.4 million somonis; Levakant-based TALCO Chemical LLC – 3 million somonis; and SUE Nazarailoq Coal Deposit – 573,200 somonis.
