By president’s decree Abduqodir Valizoda, who had previously served as mayor of the city of Tursunzoda, has been appointed acting mayor of Kulob, a source within the Tajik government told Asia-Plus in an interview.
Valizoda replaced Bahrom Inoyatzoda, who was arrested by security officers on June 8 on suspicion of corruption.
By another president’s decree Parviz Akramzoda, formerly head of the Khovaling district in the Khatlon province, has been appointed acting mayor of the city of Tursunzoda.
Abduqodir Valizoda was born in the Khovaling district on March 3, 1964. In 1983, he graduated from the Dushanbe Polytechnic College (technical secondary school) and the Tajik Agricultural University in 1996.
Valizoda had served as mayor of the city of Tursunzoda since February 2018. Prior to this he had served as head of the Hamadoni district in the Khatlon province since 2013. From 2010 to 2013, he served as head of the Khovaling district (Khatlon province). From 2006 to 2010, Valizoda served as deputy mayor of Qurghon Teppa (currently Bokhtar), the capital of the Khatlon province.
