A government session, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, took place in Dushanbe yesterday afternoon.
According to the Tajik president’s official website, the session reviewed the result so work carried out over the first half of 2020 and discussed the government’s plans set for the second half of the year.
The Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mr. Zavqi Zavqizoda, reported on the process of implementation of the national programs to support exports and import substitution in the country in 2016-2020.
The minister, in particular, noted that the main objective of the program was promoting the increase in production of the export-oriented and import-substituting goods, decrease in the dependence of the consumer market on import of essential goods, competitive recovery of local goods, improvement of investment climate, creation of modern logistics centers and development of international communications, transportation and economic corridors.
The government members also discussed the strategy for reform of criminal penalty execution system designed for the period to 2030, the food security program designed for 2020-2024 and the program for rehabilitation of juvenile offenders designed for the period of 2020-2024.
They also discussed silkworm breeding development program designed for 2020-2024 and the program of social development of the city of Kulob designed for 2020-2025.
The session participants also discussed a number draft laws and sent them for consideration to the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament).
