Dushanbe mayor orders to turn out bazaars and public transport

Presided over by Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali, the second session of the Dushanbe local council (Majlis) took place on July 15 to review the past half-year’s work and set tasks for the second half-year, according to the Dushanbe Administration press center.

It was noted at the session that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Dushanbe’s gross domestic product (GDP) for January-June this year was 6.7 billion somoni, an increase of 3.3 percent over the same period last year in comparable prices.

Speaking at the session, Rustam Emomali reportedly ordered relevant municipal agencies to organize strict control over the quality of construction work, focus on launching new industrial enterprises and turn out bazaar and public transport.

The session reportedly approved new administrative-territorial borders of Dushanbe.  The area of the city was expanded by 7,659.25 hectares at the expense of the Roudaki district and it now is 20,318.25 hectares.
