Turkey’s company not in hurry to construct hotel in Tajik capital

DUSHANBE, December 26, Asia-Plus – Participation of Turkey’s Ozgun Insaat in the construction of a five-star hotel in the center of Dushanbe is still open to question, the Ozgun Insaat representative office in Dushanbe said.

According to the source, the company has not yet started projecting of the hotel “because participation of the company in the construction is considered just one of versions.”

In the meantime, Tajikistan’s Agency for Construction and Architecture said that this Turkish company received permission for projecting the hotel in the summer already.  “If the company does not submit the hotel design within a year after it received the permission, the Tajik side will consider other versions,” the agency official said.  He, however, refrained from giving details why Ozgun Insaat is not in hurry up with the designing of the hotel.

The agency official noted that under the general plan of Dushanbe the construction of the five-star hotel in the place of printing-house # 1 is scheduled to start in mid-2007.  “Since the Turkish company has not yet started the designing of the hotel the construction may possibly be postponed to the end of 2007,” the source said.

We will recall that in July 2006, top managers of Turkey’s Ozgun Insaat and Rixos Hotels visited Tajikistan.  In Dushanbe, they met with high-ranking Tajik state officials.  The construction of the five-star hotel in Dushanbe was one of the major topics of their discussions with Tajik officials and the Turkish side submitted the preliminary project for the construction of the hotel to the Tajik officials for consideration.

According to the Agency for Construction and Architecture, four five-star hotels are currently being built in Tajikistan.

Ozgun Insaat has been working in Tajikistan since January 2005.  The company is constructing a business center Vefa in Dushanbe, which is supposed to be put into operation next year.  A total project cost is nearly US$8.5 million.

The Rixos Hotels, which showed up in the tourism sector in 2000, was founded in Antalya.  The first hotel out of the group was founded in Camyuva.  In 2002 Rixos Hotel Tekirova and in 2003 Rixos Hotel Bodrum came into service.  These were followed by Rixos Hotel Premium Belek in the month of June 2005, accepted as one of the most luxurious hotels in the world. Rixos Premium Belek that has started a new period within the tourism sector, is a part of the Rixos Group”s desire to be the leader of the sector and the objective of becoming a worldwide hotel chain.
