On Tuesday January 18, Tajikistan Ambassador  to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Bahodur Sharifi met with the Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization of the UAE, Dr. Abdulrahman Abdulmannan Al Awar, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

In the course of the talks, the parties reportedly discussed issues related to cooperation between the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population of Tajikistan (MoLMEP) and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization of the United Arab Emirates (MoHRE).

They also discussed the progress of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of manpower signed between Tajikistan and the UAE in Abu Dhabi on April 16, 2018.

The document, aimed at fostering cooperation between the two countries in the labor and human resources sector, stipulates the recruitment of workers from Tajikistan in accordance with the policy approved by MoHRE in terms of receiving the Tajik worker a detailed work offer containing a comprehensive description of the rights and duties of each party, as well as the terms and conditions of work so that the offer terms match the work contract signed by the worker upon his arrival in the country.

The memorandum also stipulates that the two parties shall endeavor to implement joint programs and activities aimed at improving the standards of managing the temporary contract work to ensure the maximum mutual benefit.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the United Arab Emirates were established on December 18, 1995.

The United Arab Emirates was the first country among the Arab World where the Republic of Tajikistan opened its Consulate General in Dubai on March 2007.  At the present time along with the Consulate General, the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan is functioning in Abu Dhabi.
