DUSHANBE, November 27, Asia-Plus – A cotton harvesting campaign in Tajikistan has been suspended snowfalls that hit the republic on November 21, the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) said. 

Saidmurod Bahriddinov, head of the MoA industrial crops department, told Asia-Plus that over the past week, cotton farmers had worked only two days and yielded 59 tons cotton.  “On November 22, Sughd gathered 11 tons of cotton and districts subordinate to the center (RRP) yielded 3 tons,” said Bahriddinov, “On November 25, Tajikistan yielded 45 tons of cotton, including 12 tons gathered by cotton farmers of Sughd and 33 tons gathered by cotton growers in Khatlon.”  Thus, over the past week, Tajikistan ahs yielded only 59 tons of cotton, according to the MoA official. 

Bahriddinov added that probably, the cotton harvesting campaign in the country had ended.  

Tajikistan has yielded 439,182 tons of cotton by November 27, which comprises 80.3 percent of the national target that has been determined at 547 tons of cotton.
