President orders 30 percent rise in student grants

President Emomali Rahmon today signed a decree to increase student grants, according to the Tajik president’s official website.   

The current grants for students of secondary technical and vocational schools and higher educational institutions (with the exception of students of higher military schools and the Interior Ministry Academy) are to be raised by 30 percent from September 1, 2021.

Presidential scholarships will be not raised as well.  The presidential scholarship for students of higher educational institutions is 942.00 somonis.  

Scholarships for magistrates, postgraduates and doctoral students will also be raised by 30 percent from September 1, 2021.  

The decree orders relevant bodies to take necessary measures to ensure the implementation of this decree.

The current monthly grants are 239.00 somonis for excellent students, 173.00 somonis for good students, and 64.00 somonis mediocre students.   

The current monthly scholarship for postgraduate students is 564.00 somonis.
