DUSHANBE, March 25, 2009, Asia-Plus — The third plane of Russia’s Emergencies Ministry with humanitarian aid on board is expected to land at the Dushanbe airport tomorrow, March 26, according to the Committee for Emergency Situations (CES) under the Tajik Government.
The source at a CES said that humanitarian aid had been allocated from Russia’s state reserves intended for mitigation of effects of emergencies and support for different sectors of economy.
The aid includes tents, sugar, mobile generators, and blankets for a total amount of more than 12 million Russian rubles.
We will recall that two transport planes IL-76 of Russia’s Emergencies Ministry airlifted totaling 96.4 tons of humanitarian aid worth 32.746 Russian rubles to the Dushanbe airport on March 19. The humanitarian aid airlifted on March 19 included 15 tons of canned meat, 25 tons of sugar, nine mobile generators, 100 frame tents Pamir-30, 100 heaters and 3,000 blankets. Senior representatives from the Russian Embassy in Dushanbe and Tajikistan’s CES attended the assistance-handover ceremony.
