Afghanistan ready to import Tajik energy in large amounts; Afghan vice-president

DUSAHNBE, September 18, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmonov Friday met with Afghanistan’s Vice-President Ahmad Ziyo Masoud in Dushanbe to discuss cooperation issues.

Speaking to journalists after his meeting with Rahmonov, Afghan vice president noted that they had constructive talks on prospects of further expansion of bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Tajikistan.   

According to Masoud, Afghanistan is looking for the implementation of projects for the construction of power transmission lines in Tajikistan.  He noted that increase in generation of electricity in Tajikistan would allow exporting it to Afghanistan and Pakistan, which face power shortages.   

“Afghanistan is ready import Tajik electric power in large amounts,” Ahmad Ziyo Masoud stated.
