Officers of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption have reportedly prevented a large consignment of medicines from being smuggled into Dushanbe.
Tajik citizen Bakhtovar Yoqubov has been detained on suspicion of smuggling a large consignment of drugs, according to the anticorruption agency press center.
The suspect smuggled 162,800 somonis worth of 34 items of medicines into Dushanbe, the anticorruption agency press center says.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Yoqubov under the provisions of Article 289 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – smuggling; an investigation is under way.
The anticorruption agency notes that Bakhtovar Yoqubov has the previous conviction for similar offence.
