DUSHANBE, September 12, Asia-Plus – Open joint-stock company “TojiSodirotBonk” (Tajik bank for foreign economic activity) has become the second bank in Tajikistan licensed to conduct safe-box deposit operations.  

Turakhon Haqnazarov, the head of the licensing and supervision department of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT), has told Asia-Plus that TojikSodirotBonk got the license for conducting safe-box deposit operations in early September.  “This service is offered to all clients,” said the Asia-Plus interlocutor, “They may keep jewelries, important documents or other properties in these boxes.”   Everything that is to be deposited in bank is checked by a special device to detect contraband, stolen things, etc., according to him.    

Mr. Haqnazarov says that the thing to be deposited in bank is suspect, bank has the right to forbid this service to client.   

Now, two banks – AgroInvestBonk and TojikSodirotBonk – have the right to offer the safe-box deposit services.  

At present eight banks, one branch and one representative office of foreign banks, eight credit societies and 44 non-bank financial organizations operate in Tajikistan, according to a source in the Tajik central bank.
