DUSHANBE, March 25, 2009, Asia-Plus –  Tajikistan, Iran and Afghanistan on March 20 stressed stern campaign against terrorism and drugs.

In a 24-point statement, foreign ministers of Iran Manouchehr Mottaki, of Afghanistan Rangin Dadfar Espanta and of Tajikistan Hamrokhon Zarifi, called for joint cooperation to fight organized crimes both regionally and internationally, Iran’s news agency IRNA reported.

The statement also points to construction of a railway, stretching from Iran’s Sangan to Afghanistan’s Herat and Shirkhan Port onto Dushanbe, Tajikistan, regarding its crucial significance for regional cooperation.

The three sides also threw their weight for domestic and foreign investment in railway construction project in the region.

They also urged establishment of common vocational and technical training and teacher training centers, of investment institutions, of common TVs, welcoming trilateral economic, trade, educational, health, energy, transportation, agricultural, mining and telecommunication cooperation.

Under the agreement, the next three-way meeting of the foreign ministers will be held in Tehran next spring.

The ministers also attended inauguration of an urban civil project and opening of Firdavsi Library as well as took part in a ceremony held in Mazar-i Sharif on traditional Navrouz festival, IRNA said.
