Students, young researchers and professionals, as well as representatives of the most energy efficient schools from the Central Asian countries are visiting Latvia for a week-long study tour “Promotion of Energy Efficiency – Latvian Experience”, says press release issued by the European Union's program for Sustainable Energy Connectivity in Central Asia (SECCA) on November 28.

Total 12 participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are reportedly taking part in the event at the invitation of the European Union.  They are the winners of the EU Sustainable Energy-themed contests, as well as the representatives of the high schools nominated as “The Most Energy Efficient School” among the schools of the Central Asian capitals.

The study tour, organized by the EU-funded project “Sustainable Energy Connectivity in Central Asia (SECCA)” from 27 November to 1 December 2023, demonstrates Latvia’s successful examples of energy efficiency (EE) and energy saving practices implemented by the public and private sectors.

Recall, the International Presidential School (School) has been recognized the most energy efficient school in Dushanbe and one representative of the School has been also invited to a study tour to Europe to learn the European experience in renewable energy, energy saving, energy efficiency, and transition to sustainable energy.

The European Union's program for Sustainable Energy Connectivity in Central Asia (SECCA) was launched in 2022 to help develop a more reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy supply in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

The SECCA Project is working closely with national energy ministries, government agencies, representatives of civil society and businesses of Central Asia’s countries as well as with other donor-funded peer projects, international financial institutions (IFIs) and other key stakeholders to boost the renewable energy (RE) production and improve energy efficiency (EE) in the region.
