Numerous snow avalanches are expected to hit the Dushanbe-Khujand highway in the next 24 hours, says the Hydrometeorology Center of Tajikistan (Hydromet).
The most dangerous area is the highway’s section from 48th kilometer to 74th kilometer in Varzob district.
Four avalanches reportedly four avalanches occurred in this area yesterday leading to temporary traffic restrictions, mainly for trucks.
The Branch of Innovative Road Solutions (IRS) LTD in Tajikistan, which operates the toll on this highway, says the avalanches consequences have been eliminated and the highway is now open for all types of vehicles.
