The head of the communications service agency has called on the mobile communications companies operating in Tajikistan to give priority to increasing the level of mobile phone coverage in the country and offering high-quality mobile communication services.

Beg Sabour, the Head of the Communications Service under the Government of Tajikistan, remarked this at a meeting of responsible persons in the communications sector and senior representatives of mobile communications operators.

The Communications Service press center says they discussed issues related to modernizing the base stations and offering mobile communication services.

It was reportedly noted that Tajikistan plans to establish the domestic laboratory for production of communication equipment, including the base stations, in order to reduce the country's dependence on foreign technologies.

A mobile communication station (or a mobile phone base station) is a transmission and reception station in a fixed location, consisting of one or more receive/transmit antenna, microwave dish, and electronic circuitry, used to handle cellular traffic.

Beg Sabour offered the meeting participants submitting their proposals on that issue to the communications service agency, the press center says.

It was noted at the meeting that the demand for mobile communications and the Internet in Tajikistan is constantly growing.

The meeting participants reportedly also discussed issues of collaboration with Chinese partners, in particular with Huawei Technologies Tajikistan.

The Communications Service press center notes that the discussion was about including components of the base stations from China in the GSM/UMS/LTE/5G standard.
