50 largest industrial enterprises and national companies of Kazakhstan will create new high value-added production (with high added value) within the next few years.

Kursiv.kz says First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Roman Sklyar, reported this at a government meeting.

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov reportedly gave Roman Sklyar 10 days on February 9 to meet with the owners of all large enterprises in the country and provide specific plans for expansion of production, especially in extractive industries.

According to Kursiv.kz, negotiations with owners of the enterprises took place on February 14.  Sklyar reportedly said that the companies have an understanding of the goals set by the prime minister.

Thus, ERG has already been engaged in construction of a hot briquetted iron plant, KAZMinerals is constructing a copper smelter, while Kazfosfat and Kazazot plan to double production of fertilizers through creating new industries.

Besides, manufacturing of auto components will start at industrial sites in Almaty and Kostanai.

All companies will be required to provide medium-term development plans as well as new programs on increasing purchase of goods of domestic producers until March 16.
