The chairman of the “Joura Nazarov” jamoat (village community), Khoushqadam Nodirov, committed suicide following family problems, Ghaffor Jabbori, the head of Shahritous district in Khatlon province, told reporters in the district administrative center on February 15.
“The law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation into the incident,” Jabbori noted.
According to him, Nodirov left a suicide note, in which he says he decided to take his own life due to family problems.
There were rumors that three days before his death, the deceased took a 30,000-somoni loan from a bank.
The district head, however, noted that these are just rumors with no basis in fact. He also said that Nodirov had not had any problems at work.
A source within the Shahritous district administration says that the day before the incident, Nodirov held a public meeting to discuss issues related to suicide problems, preventing offences and involvement of youth into extremist and terrorist organizations.
As it had bene reported earlier, a 34-year-old Khoushqadam Nodirov was found hanged in his house on the night of February 10.
Khoushqadam Nodirov had previously worked as notary ad chief specialist of the department on observing national traditions and rituals in this jamoat.
The jamoats (village communities) are the third-level administrative divisions in Tajikistan, similar to communes or municipalities.
