The construction of the new building of the U.S. Embassy in


Dushanbe


officially commenced on

June 10, 2003

.  The building is located on the


Ismoili Somoni Street


, the Zarafshon area of


Dushanbe


.  The budget for the construction of the Embassy’s building amounted to US$60 million.  

The new building of the U.S. Embassy has separate premises for the Consular Section.  Tajik citizens will have an opportunity to receive visa at the opened Consular Section already in August.  The first recipients of


U.S.


visa at the opened Consular Section of the Embassy will be students going to the


United States


for studying.  At present to get the


U.S.


visa Tajik citizens have to go to the U.S. Embassy in Almaty (


Kazakhstan


).  

According to information from the U.S. Embassy in


Dushanbe


, equipment for the Embassy’s Consular Section is supposed to arrive in


Dushanbe


in late July.  It is expected that people will be able to get the visa during one-two days.
