Over the first six months of this year, hydropower plants operating in Tajikistan has generated 9.4 billion kWh of electricity, which is nearly 7.0 percent or 7000 million kWh less than in the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.  

In January-June last year, hydropower plants operating in Tajikistan reportedly generated 10.1 billion kWh of electricity. 

Meanwhile, generation of electricity by the combined heat and power (CHP) plants has increased over the reporting period by 46.1 percent – from 631.2 million kWh of electricity generated in January-June last year to 921.1 million kWh of electricity generated over the first six months of this year.  

The general of electric power by solar power plants operating in the country has also increased over the first six months of this year compared to January-June last year (4 times) – from by 200,000 kWh in January-June last year to 800,000 kWh in January-June this year.

Thus, a total volume of electricity generated in Tajikistan over the first six months of this year has amounted to about 10.4 billion kWh, which is 3.7 percent less compared to the same period last year.  

The share of electricity generated by the hydropower plants in January-June this year was 90.4 percent, which is 3.1 percent less than in the same period last year.

Over the same six-month period, Tajikistan has reportedly supplied US$34.8 million worth of electricity to neighboring countries, which is US$8.6 million or 19.9 percent less than in January-June last year.
